In February 2003 while watching the movie, Frida, it seemed with each brushstroke Kahlo was removed a bit farther from her pain which came with living. Having witnessed such transcendence, I left the theatre that evening with an inexplicable desire to paint. As illogical as my new direction seemed, I chose to go with my gut and it was through this process of expression that I became an artist. Understandably, most believe the seeker must find their path but in hindsight I discovered, the path will find the seeker. However, it’s up to the seeker to recognize their path when it appears, even if in mid-life and as an irrational desire to paint. So as outrageous as it was to the minds of many, there I stood, armed with brush in hand as I took my first of many steps of faith and began my outrageously trying but ineffably rewarding journey
